Hi Cynthia, It's just painting..you remove the factory paint with acetone and then repaint, add lashes if you want and also reroot there hair. I haven't done any reroots yet. These dolls have pretty nice hair and their features are gorgeous so no sculpting. they have lots of tutorials on web for Monster High dolls. Takes awhile getting used to painting on vynl though, but fun! And they come with cute little clothing! I'll be happy to help with any questions you have! Hugs, Matty
